Sedona Hike- Call O' The Canyon/ West Fork Oak Creek

The family and I headed to Sedona for some relaxing and hiking recently. We decided to take on the Call O' The Canyon hike AKA West Fork Oak Creek trail. The kids were a bit intimidated by the 6 mile round trip hike, but it turned out to be a very nice hike, beautiful scenery, and nothing too crazy for them.
When you get to the trailhead, the parking lot is somewhat limited, so make sure you get there early, before the crowds. You need a Red Rock Pass or the National Park Pass, either way parking is free with them.

As you start off on the hike, there are some historical markers with some really cool stories about a structure that once stood in the area. We walked around it and checked it out.

There are numerous stream crossings on this hike. If you are careful, you can keep your feet dry if you're wearing boots. We decided to wear hiking sandals. Just a word of caution! Make sure they fit and are comfy....a couple people ended up with some nasty blisters by the end of the hike, as they never tried them on or broke them in prior to the hike.
The scenery is amazing. Although there were lots of other hikers on this hike, you still got the feeling of being out in the middle of it all with the peace and quiet.

The Garmin Oregon GPS I used ended up logging over 7 miles, but I noticed the track showed a loss of signal at some point in the hike. The total round trip was around 6 miles, give or take a tenth. Just a beautiful hike and a great one to do in the summer. Taking a dip in the creek was refreshing, and the tree canopy and canyon provided shade from the hot sun.
