    Mystery Canyon - 2016

On July 6th, 2016, Steph, Meg, Christian, Cole, Reed and I took ventured through Mystery Canyon.

This was Reed's very first time in a slot canyon. The first rappel in Mystery was the first time he had ever descended a rope. Just like his two older brothers, he is a natural.

Not much else to say about the day... Mystery Lake was stinky, Mystery Springs was cold, Mystery falls was awesome.

It was a great way to wrap up our Zion trip. I can't wait to do more canyons with these guys!

Looks like you had a incredible weekend with all the TR's. I've yet to run mystery canyon. Seams that the permit gods do not favor me whenever I make a attempt. Curios if it's "all that" as the permit system makes it out to be?

It is "all that", especially if you take a shuttle to the top. Short approach, Mystery Springs is awesome, Mystery Falls is even more awesome, sign a few autographs for the adoring stick people, then a short exit.

What more could you ask for in a half-day canyon?

I'm stealing your phrase "Stick people" for when I drop in from Imlay this weekend. Sounds like I will have to find a way to knock Mystery off my list no matter what.

    Definitely!

Bang for buck, like Bob was saying, you get a lot. Especially starting from the East Mesa Trailhead. But if you are a strong fast hiker and don't want an hour shuttle, you can hike up from Weeping Rock. I know Toyota prefers that route instead.

I've done both routes about 3x each and I prefer East Mesa. Must be my old age getting to me (32years young).

Promoting Mystery here as a "half-day canyon" might have unintended consequences. For most folks (myself included), it is at least a full day*, if not an especially long one.

    * i.e. around 8 hours, more or less

Promoting? Man, I'm only promoting having a good time.

It was a half day for us. So Im'a say it was a half day for us.

At least a full day? You camping in there?? Don't go on promotin' camping in Mystery now, Hank.

Even from the East Mesa Trailhead, which is where they came in?
Utah is a very special and unique place. There is no where else like it on earth. Please take care of it and keep the remaining wild areas in pristine condition. The world will be a better place if you do.

I prefer to make Mystery a week long trip. Spend a couple days "Finding myself" & training the alligators in the mud ponds as secret weapons. By the time I finish I have a army of stick people at my command marching through zion like zombies !!!

Sorry for the sarcasm & far fetched fairytale. Just thought I would change the topic from arguing about "How big it is" lol. Lets just say mystery is all that and a bag of chips.
