Englestead Hollow - Zion NP
Englestead Hollow Friday,June 24, 2016
Like Tom says on his web site "A Good 'un"
We parked off of the side road (2.7 miles up from Zion Ponderosa turnoff) of the North Fork Road and hiked in from there. Straight forward approach.
Dramatic 300 foot rappel start to an amazing canyon with loads of action throughout.
We used the recommended tree "B" for an easy rope pull on that big rappel.
Expected natural anchors and found almost every rappel drop in the canyon has what looks like fresh glue in bolts. So much for natural anchors....
Exited up Orderville 3.5 miles to our spotted vehicle at the Orderville trail head with mid nineties heat mostly in the shade. We packed lots of water.
The road down to the Orderville trail head has two spots that are sandy and slightly rutted which took a second attempt to pass.
The views within this canyon are classic Zion, loved every minute of it.
Thanks to my canyoneering partners Jessica, Alijeh, Lorin and Justin making this trip so much fun and taking some great pictures
