My Phantom 4 Drone Video Collection

    Snow in the High Uintas

    Provo River, Uintas

    Skyline Trail, Ogden Canyon, Pineview

What the heck, I'll throw in some videos from my 3DR Iris+ (for sale, by the way!) since I probably won't film anymore with it. I began filming with this in about March 2015. All other posts here will be from my Phantom 4. Others are welcome to reply with their own videos here too!

    Christmas Lights in Roy

    Snow Day at Grandmas

Loose Tooth pulled out by drone

    Goblin Valley

    Little Wild Horse Canyon

    Wild Horse Window

    Wheeler Canyon

Really nice video! I've been tinkering with drone videos also but don't have much of anything worth posting. I did have some fun doing a 'little planet' panorama in my cul-de-sac here in California.Name: pano2.jpg

Cool, I've looked at the 360 degree cameras too, but I'm not sure about them yet.

I just picked up the DJI Phantom 3 last week. So far I'm very happy with it.

    That's awesome. I'm curious:

    -What's the range on those?
-Does your controller have a display or are you watching with the naked eye?
    -Approximate cost?

I could see something like this coming in very handy for my trail mapping. Many times I've gotten stuck behind deep snow banks or downed trees and have wondered how much further I could proceed without 5 hours of chopping/shoveling and winching.

This has by far exceeded my expectations. The other night I took it out 8700+ feet from where I launched, and still had crystal clear 720 resolution coming back on live feed to my Samsung tablet.

It varies though, what it really comes down to is your battery life, wind, and line of sight interference. Once it clears about 800 feet, I can't see it with the naked eye anymore.

If I launched and headed straight to a destination and came right back as fast as I could, I could get over a couple of miles away, 1 way and then back. But usually I launch, test it out, look at the camera settings, check the sky one more time, then head out.

Flight time on this is roughly 25 minutes for our altitude.

This would be a great tool to go scout out a trail ahead. The basic cost for a ready to fly/film package is @1500, then you buy your tablet or use your phone for the live view, then a couple of extra batteries, backpack.... I'm into it about 2000 at the moment.

    Oh, and filters, another 100

    And editing software

and this and that and this and that and this and that and this and that

I have the Phantom 3 Professional. I paid $1100 for the drone (with an extra battery) and $260 for a 2nd generation iPad Mini. So far I'm very happy with my setup.

Cool! Any other drone flying experience prior to this? I'm glad I owned the 3DR Iris+ prior, because it really shows me all of the things that can go wrong, and how DJI is a far superior product.

Feel free to post your footage here too.

Do you visit the DJI forums as well? I'm techmyjustin on some of them.

I owned two crappy Syma drones previously. They didn't have GPS or nearly as many features and the DJI is SO much easier to fly.

@Sombeech- I assume you are setting your max speed on your drone very low. What speed is it flying?

I actually haven't messed around with any of the speed settings or anything like that

So I mainly fly in P mode mode and the max speed for that is 20 miles per hour. I may look at increasing that because I am very often speeding up my footage by two or three times sometimes even 4

@Sombeech- Wow! So you are just flying with the default settings? Your video quality seems so much smoother than mine.

Yeah, I'm speeding up a lot of my footage in editing though, so LWH Canyon was sped up 2X for most of the produced video
