Early Season Heaps / Imlay / Kolob

I'm just putting out the feelers to see if anyone has done Heaps / Imlay / Kolob in the last month and could shed some light on the current conditions, both of the approaches and of the canyons themselves.

I doubt anyone has done any of those in the last month. Imlay has been done in February, but that's extremely rare. I don't know if the others have even been done in February.
Utah is a very special and unique place. There is no where else like it on earth. Please take care of it and keep the remaining wild areas in pristine condition. The world will be a better place if you do.

Kolob is likely to be packed with loads of ice. It's actually gaining popularity with ice climbers. That fact alone should clue you into the conditions

Here's a video of it (warning: language):

Much of the film is from Kolob Creek.

I chatted with Scott (the main guy in the ice video) and the ice season came tumbling down a month or so ago, at least. Short window.

That said, I'd expect conditions to be darn challenging in any of those canyons in March and even into April. Unless you have a boatload of experience in "those" kind of canyons in off season...I wouldn't suggest doing them in the next couple of months. (Having done Imlay in early March a few years ago). Risky business to be sure. The risk v reward is a little skewed to be sure.
