TR: Black Magic Canyon (with kids)

We went to Black Magic Canyon in Idaho this last weekend. We were told that Black Magic Canyon wasn't worth going all the way to Idaho, but it was supposed to be great if you were already in the area or passing by. We loved it! It was the highlight of our trip and I thought it was well worth going just for it.


We added Craters of the Moon, ShoShane Falls, & Antelope Island to the trip but Black Magic Canyon was by far the highlight. Goblin Valley in Utah feels like you are hiking on Mars. Black Magic Canyon feels like you are hiking on the moon.

P.S. @Slot Machine mentioned that you should leave the little kids at home. He is probably right, it was a lot more work carrying a little one on my back, and my kids got a little scraped up. That said, my kids handled it fine and loved it. I think I have conditioned my kids to deal with adversity in the outdoors :)
