    Sawtooths at Night

I ventured up into the Sawtooth mountains this past weekend. Snow levels are low. Mosquitoes were present but not much of a problem. I think those hills are open for summer business.

As many know I mainly do night photography. Here's a photo I'm pleased with from the night of the summer solstice. This was taken from a ridge just above and south of the Trail Creek Lakes.

The large mountain on the left above the snowfield is Baron Peak and the jagged ridge outlined in the orange light is the Monte Verita Ridge with Warbonnet Peak's pointy summit overhang visible. Tohobit Peak is seen on the far right of the ridge. I think all of the orange light is light pollution from Boise.

All of the light is from the crescent moon. I was experimenting with a new lens that has a wider aperture and was quite please with how much light it was able to capture.

I was crossing my fingers for clear skies but was quite please with the clouds!Name: sawtooths night 2b.jpg
