    Camping Checklist

Does anyone have a ready camping checklist? Well, our camping trip in June will be a family one in a pretty safe and well-regulated area - not a mountain trek and camping where you can expect the unexpected. I'd still love to have some tips though because we will have little ones with us. And yes, I'd love tips about bringing spices too just like in another thread here.

prepare to be inundated :-) (I will refrain for at least 24 hrs)

i don't have one. I would list everything around a week before. I guess you can never have a ready checklist because it varies to the location, duration of camping and even who are you with. I hope I have helped.

INUNDATED? I had to look up the word.

You know, it's not like there is a one stop shop like what we call in IT services, as a one stop shop for your IT needs. When camping, especially with kids, prudence tells me you cannot be too ready. So, yeah, I am prepared to be inundated and will appreciate any tips or lists. HAHA!

the paucacity of lists suggest that folks avoid camping with kids? My wife and I certainly avoided it. Our lists are for adult camping. For camp cooking, we would often try new recipes at home first, to avoid disasters in camp.

We camp w/ 4 kids all the time (age 10-2). But our "list" is parked next to the house -- it is a 27' travel trailer. Makes it real easy, just throw clothes and food in and we're off.

But we never really had a list even before the trailer. Every place is different. To me, the key is dedicated camping stuff. A kitchen box w/ all cooking items, utensils, etc. is a must. After that, a tent, stove, sleeping bags, pads, fresh food, and clothing appropriate for the season and activities, and that's about it, really.

Yup - our current house has a "camping closet" with the various boxes and coolers; one box is all rope, another box is harnesses and hardware, two boxes for cooking stuff, and so on. Tents on upper shelves.

we have started using a small "vestibule" tarp outside our tent door - it reduces the amount of dirt-dust tracked into the tent. We weight it down with rocks. Its an old company flag, actually.
