Gravel Canyon - Cedar Mesa 4/24/2015

Thursday 4/23/15 - We made our way down to Cedar Mesa. Taking exit 227A we drove out 13 miles and camped right at the entrance to the side canyon of Gravel, right across the dirt road from Ram Mesa. The weather was good, high clouds and mostly sunny with temps in the 70s.


Friday 4/24/15 - After eating some delicious bacon and eggs and equipped with my new Bogley photo contest shirt, we parted camp and made our way down the Gravel Canyon side entrance (directly by our camp). The weather was a little bit over cast today with the temps in the high 60s low 70s. The canyon as a whole didn't have too much water in it (3 swimming sections that were very short), but the water was COLD. (see freezing face pic below). We made our way down the canyon. We checked out the ruins on the rim (posing as if I am in deep thought, when really I am thinking (*&^% 3+ miles to that mesa and camp). Made our way out of the canyon after the ruins via the exit on the opposite side of the ruins. Over all it was a good day!

Saturday 4/25/15 - It rained all day, we just hung out in camp and messed around with exploring etc. We debated on getting Cheesebox but then decided it would give us a reason for a 2nd trip.

I personally liked this Canyon better than Black hole, Fry, and Short. (If Fry was longer it would win, but its not).

Here are some shots from the trip. - There were also lots of tent cities just off the road from the short canyon entrance and soldiers crossing so maybe ill see other TRs from the same area.
