Super interesting. I wondered about pointing the pear shape out instead of in. This is also really good knowledge about the weakening of gear under different types of pressure, like bouncing on it. I see people doing all sorts of silly things on rappel, like hanging upside down, or flying down the rope really fast and purposely jolting to a hard stop near the bottom. And every time I see it, I cringe.
