Pit of Despair - Death Valley - January 2015

Hello Bogley - it has been awhile since my last TR....

We were still feeling tired and sore from Deimos the day before, so opted for a bit of a shorter day. Cold and snow back home, perfect weather in Death Valley, CA.

The road was in great shape, and our car had no problems. We found other canyoneers parked, getting ready. A popular time.

Anchor and rock, "we are one"

Once you leave the wash to cut up, it gets steep. We somehow got on a ridge that got to 4th class fast. The exposure and lose rock were even worse than the day before, but once we traversed over to a narrow ravine things quickly got better. Once at the top, you cross over the midpoint of the canyon, and climb up to another peak.

    First big rap...sketchy anchor?

The first rap was setup as a knot chock, 200
