Pete Harman, Utah native who opened first KFC franchise, has died
His obituary made it into the London Times today (he died 19 Nov 2014, aged 95). I can't link to the paper because I don't subscribe to the electronic version.
His association with "Colonel Sanders" is an interesting story of opportunity, wisdom and being in the right place (with the right person) at the right time.

I met Pete Harman many times, my brother dated his granddaughter all through high school and his grandson was one of my rock climbing partners all through the 90's. They lived just down the street from us.
