Anyone Done Baptist/UpperChute Lately?
Thinking it might be time to visit an old friend. I've had good luck in the past, but I've heard Upper Chute sometimes holds a lot of water. Any recent intel?
Much Obliged,
Shooter

We did Baptist and the narrows of Upper Chute on Oct. 5. Found some water in Baptist and nothing in the lower of half of Chute but a couple short pools in upper section. Nothing was over about waist to belly button deep. Used wetsuits but could have done without. I don't believe that there's been any significant precip in that area since then, so what we encountered has probably drained out by now. See our brief report on Candition.com.

Love that canyon as it was one of my first technical canyons. However that first time we hiked it I didn't know you could loop out the top of Upper Chute so we did the long slog out the bottom and up Fault canyon.
This is a much more enjoyable canyon without the extra miles.
