    Hogwarts + Leprechaun Right Fork

We are nearing the last warm days of the year and I knew I needed to get a few more canyons under my belt before the season ended.

My wife and I used to climb and canyon a lot but the last few years it has been hard to go together. It took some extra planning but I arranged for the kids to be cared for and I took my favorite climbing partner (wife) down to North Wash for a quick trip.

We left the SLC area after work on Friday and reached the trail head to Leprechaun around 11:30pm.

We had a newbie with us so we started the day with Hodwarts canyon as a warmup and to gauge his skill to help decide which of the Leprechaun fingers to tackle after lunch.

The day was beautiful and a perfect temperature to be in the canyon.

After lunch we headed back up the road to the Leprechaun trailhead with our sights on the Right Fork. So much fun. Long skinny slots and an excellent introduction to canyoneering. We bypassed the rappel at the head wall by entering the canyon a little lower but hiked up the narrows to the entry anyway.

Deeper into the canyon we were treated to some amazing light coming into the canyon. After the last rappel near the confluence we dropped our packs and backtracked up the Belfast Boulevard to where Left and Middle forks come together. That dark and tight section is awesome. All water was avoidable except for the two pools near the end but they were only knee deep.

Not sure why some of the images loaded sideways but, whatever.

End!!!!! The canyon season doesn't end. You good sir are not a TRUE canyoneer. JK looks like it was a fun trip, NW is one of my favorite areas for canyoneering.

You are correct TommyBoy! Canyon season does not end. However my canyon season often does as it is harder to find willing partners and schedules are tougher in winter months.

If you are headed down for a canyon, I'm game. I often find myself taking newbies, (which is great and I love introducing people to the awesome canyon country) but that keeps me out of the more challenging canyons on my list.
