    Moab & Lake Powell Recommendations?

I'm planning a motorcycle trip for this month and I am hoping to get some suggestions.

    • Moab Camping - I'll be camping on a Sunday night, which you would think would be a good time, but Moab is ALWAYS busy. Where is a good place to grab a nice spot?

    • Lake Powell (Bull Frog) - I'll be staying the night here in a hotel. Are there any short hikes or things that I can ride to and see? I wont have time for anything major.

    Cheers!

You could hike down Swett Creek (you don't have to walk far to see some good narrows).

You could also ride out to the Ticaboo Tank and hike down into South Fork Ticaboo Creek.

As far as camping in Moab, it depends on whether you want a designated or non-designated site (for which you will have to be a ways away from Moab itself).

On a Saturday night, there should be at least some campsites available along the Colorado River both above and below Moab.
Utah is a very special and unique place. There is no where else like it on earth. Please take care of it and keep the remaining wild areas in pristine condition. The world will be a better place if you do.

Tks Scott! I'll look into those hikes.

We will be camping in Moab on Sunday night. I would love to camp inside Arches, but it is full. Something with a nice view or scenery would be great. Along the Colorado could work. I would prefer to have it planned now so I can ride straight there and have a good place to throw down 3-4 tents.

Sunday night should be no problem in Moab. I always figured Moonflower would be a good camp if you were on a motorcycle

If you stay there try the log climb:

Lots of fun short hikes nearby, below are a couple of my favorites

    Big Horn Sheep Panel

    Moab Maiden

    Owl Panel

And if you would prefer to ride your motorcycle to something pretty cool try the Moab Wind Caves

    Enjoy

Have you checked Dead Horse Point State Park for camping? Island in the Sky in Canyonlands might be an option as well. Shaffer Trail would be my choice to get to either one from Moab. I don't think I'd want to ride down the Shaffer Trail on a bike like yours, but that's just me. May want to check on road conditions at the info desk in Moab first.

I wondered if you could let me know which hotel you found in Bullfrog as I was googling it last night & could only find the Ticaboo Resort about 15 miles north? I was looking for somewhere after hiking Halls Creek Narrows on 26th/27th (you could join us for that hike but sounds like you're looking for shorter than 2 days)
If you head north to the junction with 95 and then south down 95, you get to an absolutely amazing panoramic viewpoint down over the Colorado, HIte, and the north end of Lake Powell. (apologies if you know the area well and are fully aware of that)
You could always hire a boat or jetski from Bullfrog for a bit of the lake too.

Yep, that's the only hotel over on that side. We might take the ferry over from halls crossing. I'm not sure if it will be running though. The schedule says it stops on the 14th. Perhaps the schedule changes at that point though?
