Unused mystery permit for September 6th

I have a permit for Mystery, Monday September 1st than I am unable to use. Unsure of how the change of name on a permit works, or if I can arrange some good timing with another group to cancel mine and you can go in and snatch it up. It is for a group of 6.

Party A can probably send a note to Party B that says:

Dear Wilderness Desk -

Please cancel my reservation # so and so for X people in Y canyon on yada yada date. Thank you (signed)

Then Party B can wander into the desk, hand the note in, and then ask if there are any permits available for Y canyon...


I would expect this to work a few times, but the staff might get suspicious if it becomes a regular thing, and make a rule against it.

You will be asked if money changed hands.

Call the backcountry desk at 435-772-0170, they don't always answer but keep trying until they do. Tell them the permit is in your name and your not sure you will make it. Ask if you can change the name on the permit to someone else in your group to be safe.

Or let the other person know exactly when your going to cancel the permit, they then need to watch the permit page and when they get posted back up grab them.
