Neon Canyon

Dad and I headed down to the Escalante for some canyoneering and backpacking on Sunday, August 17th. We hoped to be able to do Neon, West fork of Baker, and perhaps Ringtail but due to the weather being not so good we only did Neon before heading back up.

We hiked down next to Fence Canyon and carrying all our gear were pretty exhausted by the time we got down. We saw a group of guys at the mouth of Fence and a pair of canyoneers who just finished Neon. They told us that the potholes were full of water and that was pretty exciting to hear! And it was true, the whole canyon was flooded. You could down climb some of the rappels, the anchors were good, and the last keeper pothole is a long swim (we didn't even notice it).
