Hail, Snow, Rain, Sunshine, Blisters, and Mountains

27 miles and two mountains (plus a sub-peak) with the kids over the weekend. We started Friday evening and hiked a few miles north of Buffalo Pass and into the Mount Zirkel Wilderness. Day two we climbed Mount Ethel and Lost Ranger Peak where we got nailed with a hail, snow, and rainstorm (which formed extremely quick). The weather forecast was good, but the storm was rather severe and the lightning scary. 15+ miles round trip. We were going to hike back Saturday making it a 21 mile day, but Shaylee's (our 10 year old girl) feet were blistered from her wet boots.

It was a challenging, but good trip, except for the severe storm and the blisters. Good thing we have a tough girl. She never did complain at all about the blisters, other than she wanted to finish the final six miles the next day.

Utah is a very special and unique place. There is no where else like it on earth. Please take care of it and keep the remaining wild areas in pristine condition. The world will be a better place if you do.

    eww...nasty blisters.

Pretty awesome that your kids were able to do the 15+miles. Troopers indeed.

The view up on top is beautiful!
