Out with the old, in with the new - Gloves

Just wanted to share what 3 years of sporadic climbing/canyoneering turns a glove into.

After seven trips to Zion/Escalante, the best deal we've found is the grey (or as y'all would say 'gray') Walmart DIY/gardening model. Excellent grip on sandstone and a trusty rappel friend. Even though they last only 3 or 4 big canyons at most, at less than $5 a pair, still a bargain

I know these babies are going to get killed in the canyon but I am looking forward to warm fingers in some cold canyons. These are like a semi-dry suit for your fingers. Since the glove is waterproof, the water around the hands should stay warmer than regular neoprene gloves. Looking forward to putting them to the test in a week.

Where did you get these gloves? The reinforced leather in the palm looks great for rappelling. I'm in need of a new pair. Thanks.

I get mine from REI, any climbing store would have them or similar. I cut holes in the back where your finger nails would be to drain water.

I'm impressed your leather gloves lasted that long. Leather is really nice for rappelling, but gets destroyed real quick in wet canyons. I am now going with the common wisdom and got a 12-pack of Atlast Therma Fit gloves. Very cheap even if each pair only lasts a few canyons.
