California Coastal Crags
To escape the heat of the Valley on the 4th of July we decided to head to the Bay area for some climbing. Two areas were on the hit list. Mickeys Beach and the far gone Dry Creek Sea Crag. At Mickeys we climbed a couple routes from 5.9 to 5.10c on "The Egg". Which is a huge boulder with endless slab and steep face climbing. Later in the day we drove north on highway 1 until we were a few miles south of Fort Ross and hiked down the steep trail to the base of Dry Creek Crag. The climbing here is wild yet amazing.
PS. descending the trails to reach both crags required going down loose and very steep slopes. We saw a couple of snakes. Keep an eye out and take it slow.
Two videos that I shot using my GoPro.

As always, looks fun!
So with the crag down in the bay, is there a constant ocean breeze? That would feel nice I'm sure.
Are these places busy? I'm sure the steep slopes keep most people away right?
Makes me excited for the weekend - I'm hitting up a 5.9 here in Big Cottonwood Canyon on Saturday.●Canyoneering 'Canyon Conditions' @ www.candition.com

Hey jman.
Yeah since its near the ocean it gets pretty windy but that makes it exciting! And these areas can be busy on weekends but not always. The second crag, Dry Creek Sea Cliff, is so far away from the city that you can climb there for a week and not see another soul.
Have fun at Cottonwood man! That place looks really sick!
