Uinta lakes ice-off
The Trial Lake snotel is showing pretty low snow levels now, and just wanted to know experts' best guesses for ice-off this year for various lakes.
Long Lake area?
Cuberant Lake area?
Naturalist Basin?
Middle Basin?
Amethyst Basin?
Granddaddy Basin?
Red Castle?
Thanks for your best guesses - just itching to try and get out there!

Looking at the snowpack figures and being very familiar with the area, here are my guesses. Of course this is dependent on how hot or cold June is. There will still be snow around for the below as well, even if the lakes are mostly iced off.
Mid June
Cuberant Lake area
Granddaddy Basin
Late June/early July
Naturalist Basin (some melt early than others)
Middle Basin
Red Castle (Upper Red Castle maybe not until mid July)
Early July
Amethyst Basin (possibly as late as mid-July for Amethyst Lake; it's always the last in the basin to ice off.
PS, if you want a good early season lake, Abes Lake is one of the first to ice off and to become snow free. It's a pretty one too.Utah is a very special and unique place. There is no where else like it on earth. Please take care of it and keep the remaining wild areas in pristine condition. The world will be a better place if you do.
