Zero G & The Irish
After 6 LONG canyonless months my Seattle crew finally made it back down to the desert for 11 days of adventure in the North Wash, Grand Canyon, and Buckskin/Paria! Wheels down in SLC and thus begun the rat race of baggage collection, rental cars, supply shopping. We were off like a shot and managed to squeeze in a lap through Zero G on the way down to the North Wash.
We had fought our way out to the trailhead post monsoons last September requiring some serious off road driving. This time around we were equipped with seriously downgraded vehicles and were sweating the drive. We were pleasantly surprised to find the road had been graded and we easily drove right up to the Zero G trailhead. As we arrive two guys who had obviously just finished ran right past us in their shorty wetsuits directly for the warmth of their truck. Its definitely not shorty suit season.
We burned through in 2.5 hours. The canyon was in great shape. Water levels were WAY down from September and we encountered a fairly serious KPH that I didnt even know existed because it had been so full.
We moved onto the Irish Canyons the next day and took a lap through Right Fork of Lep & Right Fork of Blarney before dark. Sandthrax camp was almost entirely empty with the exception of a ZAC crew and Tom Jones himself. They seemed like a cool crew and were nice enough to share some beta on No Kidding with us. Thanks again guys!
WARNING: There are a couple of construction workers that are camped out at Sandthrax (Sun-Thurs nights) during their job down the road at hog springs. They like to mingle through sites, are frequently intoxicated, are a little on the loud side but seem harmless enough.
Here's the video for the entire trip: North Wash, Grand Canyon, Buckskin Gulch & Paria. Stuff from this post is 0:00 - 2:45.
