Mountain Goats of the Snake River Canyon
Mountain Goat time!
I just posted a new Feature Page about the Mountain Goats of the Snake River Canyon with photos, maps, suggestions and tips.
Here's the link:

February is traditionally the month they show up with any kind of regularity. I was there last Friday and got skunked. I went Sunday and had to wait until after 2:00 pm for them to move down. We recently had a couple of snow storms. One school of thought would suggest it might "push" them down to get to the grass along the road. The other suggests they might stay up on the hillsides until there is an avalanche to open a path and expose some grass and shrubs. Based on what I am seeing right now, and seeing in last year's photos, I am leaning towards the latter.
Oh yes, when I was zoomed in to edit the vertical image, I could see a bunch of pink, blue and silver "distractions" in the rocks behind the ledge the goat was standing on. Turns out they were carabiners!
Hope you like the post. MJ
