These pads are the fancy schmancy impact gel that stiffens on impact. I"ve only worn them twice, and haven't fallen on them so I can only pass along the manufacturer's claim of awesomeness in that regard. They are much more comfortable to pedal in than the stiff plastic kind. Knee pads retail at 69.99 and the elbows retail at 59.99.
