I can't narrow it down to just 10 - plus I would show my "old school" roots big time. Suffice to say, I love classic rock (Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin/Doors) Soul/Motown (Al Green/Marvin Gaye/Otis Redding) and Jazz. One all time favorite group that combines rock and jazz is Steely Dan. I like different songs from a lot of the bands already named, just not a steady diet of the music in general.
Never regret anything that made you smile!

That wasn't very nice to put the B-52s on this list! I mean, yes, Bob doesn't actually *sing* per se but they do at least have one instrumentalist/singer in Keith Strickland.
As for Nickelback, hate 'em if you want, but they obviously figured out a formula for making hit records and lots of money. Good for them.

I don't think I have a list of 10 bands, but I can say that my actual favorite bands are:
Weezer
Bob Dylan
Pink
And I don't know from there.
I like a little bit of every musical genre but I listen to a lot more audiobooks than I do music."My heart shall cry out for Moab..." Isaiah 15:5

I was a teenager in the '80's and absolutely love the talent laden heavy metal from the '70's and '80's with guitar and drum solos. I personally believe that it was the greatest rock and roll that was, or ever will be produced.
With that said, I have split my faves between then and now. 90's rock left me in the dust with Nirvana, STP and the like, so I really got into Country for about a decade and only in the last few years since the growling rock (not sure what the real genre name is for the constipated sound) faded have I since started listening again. I love the newer bands as well, but, for the most part, seem very simple and no depth compared to the old school rock, with the exception of Tool and a few others (biased opinion, of course ).
Old School (no order, except for #1):
#1 Scorpions
MSG
Dokken
Rush
Pink Floyd
Led Zepplin
Aerosmith
ZZ Top
38 Special
Warrant
Firehouse
Ozzy
Black Sabbath
Rainbow
Dio
Night Ranger
AC/DC
Deep Purple
Def Leppard
Loverboy (Iceaxe knows what's up)
New School (no order):
Tool (including Perfect Circle, but NOT Pucifer)
Linkin Park
System Of A Down (Serj's solo stuff too)
Stone Sour (some of Slipknot's mellow stuff too)
30 Seconds to Mars
Three Days Grace
Seether
Hoobastank
Disturbed
Avenged Sevenfold
Evanescence
Skillet
3 Doors Down

Not much has changed.... I saw Halestorm, Lita Ford (twice), Loveboy, Vince Neil (Motley Crue) in concert this year.
Also saw Buckcherry, Dokken, Great White and Tesla this year among others. I'll see Slaughter on December 7th at Leatherhead's.
My current list would probably be...
Motley Crue
Halestorm
Ratt
Poison
Guns N' Roses
The Runaways/Joan Jett/Lita Ford
Loverboy
Buckcherry
Tesla
