    Petal Type Descender

Has anyone had any experience using this type of a descender? Looking to share it as a Christmas gift to someone...

Looks like it can only be used with smaller diameter ropes....?

Does your friend LOVE owning every type of descending device in the world? If so I would get them this. Otherwise, I don't see this being all that great of a rappelling device. BUT I could be completely off and this might end up being the Most-Amazing-Canyoneering-Tool EVER! (if such is the case, please enlighten me.)

I predict carnage for all the hordes who will flock to use this device. It looks like it won't work double strand, and rappelling double strand with an ATC is the only way to go- anything else is certain death ...
