The board of directors recently voted to change the name of the organization to Coalition of American Canyoneers. While wanting to keep the brand recognition we had through American Canyoneers, this name emphasizes that we are an association with an eye on our membership needs and the essence of our mission.The focus of the CAC remains to preserve the canyons in their most pristine and natural state, and to promote and improve access to public and private lands. In recent months we have completed fundraisers for the SAR community, lead cleanup projects and promoted stewardship in many areas. A nice shiny new name.... Just repackaged the Kool-Aid as "Country Time", but added the meaningless "New and Improved!" label... YAWN...

When are we going to see a post about a big win (or even a small win) in the access department? That's what I keep waiting for.

The SAR fund raisers and canyon cleanups are nice, but wasn't the organization originally formed to improve access?

Has "preserve the canyons in their most pristine and natural state" now jumped access in importance? Kinda reads that way from the press release.
