Deseret Peak (11,031'), Stansbury Mt's, October 20 2013
I'm not going to post a complete trip report, as there is plenty of beta out there for this peak. Just sharing a few pictures and a video, and noting that I found a lot more snow up there than I expected! Especially on the steep northeast-facing slopes near the top of the Mill Fork cirque; as you can see, other slopes in the area were nearly dry.
I was fortunate that at least one person on snowshoes and some horses had already trampled the snow fairly well. Otherwise it would have been a heckuva slog to the summit (since I sure didn't bring snowshoes!).
I'm not sure I would have been motivated enough to do all that postholing! I still had to do some as it was, since snow conditions up high were variable: sometimes I'd hardly make a mark on the snow, sometimes I'd sink nearly to my knee. But I managed to reach another summit that was a goal for this year.
