Red Cave-Lower & Upper
Family trip to red cave in September to celebrate 5 years we've lived in Utah. It was the first slot we ever saw and at that time just taking the hike to see the start was an adventure. While not technical, it is very beautiful. You have to ask permission from the landowners to cross but they were very helpful. Their phone # is in Bo's hiking info. <br>

No water or swimming?
Upper Red Cave almost always has waist to chest deep wading, somethings swimming is required. Welcome to slot canyons.

Yes there was some water. It's on some of Jeremy's pictures. Maybe he'll post.

1 swim, a few knee to waist high. We brought fleece just in case and never needed it but it's colder now.

Specifically, all the water was in Upper and none in Lower. It was only deep towards the very end but since we've had storms since our trip conditions may have changed, certainly the canyon has the capability to hold more water than we encountered. With the days getting colder a suit might be a good idea though I wouldn't say absolutely required.

Yeah... that looks more like the water I remember in Upper Red Cave. I have never found more than knee deep water in Lower Red Cave, and that is right at the base of the last dryfall.

Thanks, I think we'll take suits, Matt.
