    Nice video, unfortunately like all made-for-TV engineering videos, made for the great unwashed.

    "Quick paint job" is easier to explain to the masses than anodizing.

    I found it interesting that they actually test every one to ensure that the gate can open under load.

    Anybody figure out who the manufacturer/brand is?

    BD tests every biner to half it's rated strength I believe. Next time you handle a new BD biner, look in the corners and you can see where the test pins have actually dented the metal during testing. Kind of reassuring.

    The reassuring thing is how few fail the test. I was there for 12 years and I think ONE failed in that time period.

    The gate opening under load test checks for a warped body. If the biner fails it can be straightened so the gate and body line up better.
