It's nice to have a roomy, well lighted, and properly equipped shop to work in. Now if I can just get the wife and kids to stop stacking crap on my work bench I'll have it made. I also want to add an air compressor so I can use my air tools.

Holy crap.... changed spark plugs in the Corvette yesterday and I couldn't get one of the plugs to thread in. I spent about 15 minutes trying to get it started and nothing, It wasn't cross threading, it just would not start. Best of all the plug is one located under the AC compressor so I can't see what I'm doing as I'm working by braille. I didn't want to run a tap out of fear of metal filings getting into the engine. Spent the night not sleeping and having nightmares about having to pull the heads.


Anyhoo..... I found this awesome little tool to repair spark plug threads by back tapping. It worked like a charm and took 10 minutes. The tool works by extending through the spark plug hole and tapping from the inside out.

This afternoon I replaced my leaky valve cover gaskets. Everything went smoothly, which I'm discovering is very rare when working on classic cars.

Just finished installing new spark plug wires in the Corvette. Every wire had to be hand built to clear the headers. It was an interesting process to say the least. Next up is to swap the points out for an electronic module.

I gave up on VW cause they are worthless and always need attention . Something I hate on the road. IU gave mine away and somebody thought they got a great deal. :D

This weekend I converted the points to an electronic ignition. I found a cool little module from Lectirc Limited called Breakerless-SE that just replaces the points and condenser. It was as simple as unscrewing the old points and mounting the electronic module in the points old location. The reason I went with the Breakerless-SE system was no additional wiring was required and you can't tell it is not running points unless you remove the distributor cap.The system cost about twice ($170) what other similar systems cost, but this is the only system that is completely hidden without pulling the cap.

Aside from the AC, you've gotten it all dolled up for cheap. As long as the compression is good and/or it's not burning too much oil, I'd say you scored nicely.

The motor is brand new, along with brakes, tires, power steering, water pump, motor mounts, wheel bearings and a bunch of other items that were done by the previous owner. The car was about 85% done when I bought it.

I show the car when I'm bored and have nothing better to do. I don't know if I really care for the car shows, but I do enjoy some of the cruise nights as they are more laid back and casual.

OH... almost forgot. I installed a completely new AC so everything on the car now works.
