This is sad: Another bear killed

Because sloppy humans in the "outdoors". The slobs who create this problem should stay in suburbia or at the mall where they belong.

If all these people could keep a clean camp, this wouldn't be a problem. I'm sick of all the half-assed scoutmasters not teaching the scouts better or the worthless parents who can't teach their kids to pay attention. Or The just plain lazy people that cant babysit themselves in the woods.

I've spent well over 300 nights in a tent over the last 20 years, 80% of them in "bear country". Never once have I had an issue with bears, even in places where they are reputed to be problematic. I was taught by my father (master backpacker and LNT'er of the first order) the basic skills of a clean camp, and just about everything else I know about backcountry ethics. My dad backpacked all over creation in the west and never once had any encounters. The only bears we ever saw on our many trips together were likely not aware of our presence, and if they were, they did not view us as the source of a handout. Keep a clean camp folks. When you are in the woods, you are in THEIR environment, you are a guest, behave yourselves and the host will welcome you back in the future.

I think "it's coming right for us!" should be the boy scouts new motto. Sadly I could only find this clip.
Your safety is not my responsibility.

Heavier use of their territory and the degradation of their territory is only going to increase interactions between bears and humans. DWR estimates between 3000-3500 bears in Utah. That's quite a few more than I would have thought.
