Moab - July 12-July 18
I will be in Moab on the above dates with a few buddies doing some ATV riding. We will be doing some hard stuff, but will mix in a few family friendly scenic rides as well. I also plan on doing some Indian ruin and writing searching. Probably will hike Mill Creek to the swimming hole also.
If anybody wants to join please let me know. Staying at Canyonlands Campground in a cabin Friday night-Sunday night, then we relocate to Moab Valley RV Park in a cabin. Look for the Ford F-150, with trailer and ATV's, with Ohio plates.
July is not ideal for this at all, but it was the only time we could have available. 10 day looks as though we may luck out with several days in the 90's instead of 100's. Will be doing most everything in the morning and the evening.
Thanks,
Zack

Yeah..its going to be hot at that time. Have you considered the Paiute instead?

If heat doesn't bother you, shouldn't be much of a problem as long as you keep well hydrated. If the heat does start to get you down, there is plenty of cooler riding all around the La Sals and south to the Abajos/Blue Mountains.
Wish I could join ya. Post a trip report when you can.
Be smart, be safe and have fun.

We have looked at a few back up options if the heat gets to us. We would head back to Colorado and hit Ouray or Taylor Park areas.
Did not look at the Paiute since we are coming from Ohio. We would rather head East if there is an issue instead of head West. Although the Paiute, Swell, and Escalante area are on the future "to do" list.
Thanks,
Zack

I'll probably take some "heat" for saying this, but personally I would only wear my helmet when it became necessary. I would strap it to the rack and when you arrive at the challenging sections put it on. YMMV
Also, we also soak our cotton t-shirts and hats in water on a hot day, amazing difference. We'd sometime even start to shiver...

Heat exhaustion and heat stroke will be a very real concern in temps near/over 100F. See my recent trip report..
Lots of breaks, lots of water and lots of water poured over your shirts (like Sandstone stated)..
Helmets will indeed be an issue over 100F..2020 Jeep Gladiator (2" Lift, 37" Tires, Falcon 3.3 Shocks, Lockers, Sliders)

We will have to see on the helmet thing. I think if it is too hot for the helmet, my ass will be in the pool!
