    It's quite remarkable to capture this, even in captivity. Elephants are very secretive (and protective) about the birthing process. A rough sand/riverbed floor might have helped the calf get upright sooner, though.

    I lived in Kenya for 18 months & never saw anything like this. They are wonderful & very intelligent animals.
