Thread: Self Defense Map

Paul, sorry to hear about your brother...what a horrible tragic accident.

I suggest you should get properly trained and arm yourself. It's amazing the peace of mind you'll feel when you pull into the next dark parking lot and you are ready to control the situation instead of being at the mercy of some drug crazed thug.

I'm off with a long conference call with the CDC as they continue to expand their requirements for healthcare measures. They might even have a facility at Area 51 lol.

Paul, just because you have a gun doesn't mean you have to use it. I just like to keep my options open.

As for your brother story, it has some real issues. The biggest being it is illegal for an 18 year old to own a pistol or purchase ammunition for it. It would be interesting to hear more as it is clear several state and federal laws were broken.

I would also like to hear more about the firearm, because it should not have discharged by dropping it on the hammer (unless it was a really old single action). Sounds like a winnable lawsuit against the firearm manufacture. Modern firearms do not just discharge from being dropped, they have a hammer block to prevent this type of accident.

    I appreciate the thought.
Yes there was a fire arms expert hired. He was unable to get it to discharge form a drop and even beating it with a rubber hammer.
Yes there was a law suit.
    Yes there was prosecutorial prerogative.

paul4887... You should not possess a gun for self defense. The rest of us fortunately have the right to choose.

Found 10 of these stories from last week alone.

So, don't own a gun, good for you. Your stories and/or targeted research will do nothing to change my mind. It's quite possible there are people out there that do not respect firearms and failed to be trained correctly or receive no training at all. When deciding to own a weapon for home defense, education must follow. Educating the loved ones in the house and some type of defensive shooting classes for the persons that will be handling it.

    Pretty interesting show...

I never said I don't own a gun. At age 13 I took the NRA gun safety course. Owned deer rifles and shot guns for duck hunting. Deer hunting in Utah became less and less of a desirable sport given the invasion of the A

?..ATV people. Duck hunting became less and less a matter of available time. I realize quit well how much of a "conformance culture" Utah is. Do you really think I am here to change your mind?

No idea what you have in mind. Usually when someone keeps on going with their negative points to something that most have looked at positively, you do begin to wonder where one is going with this.

    Gun Owners:
    • "You don't own a gun? OK that's cool"

    Anti Gun Owners:
    • "You have a gun? What, are you stupid?"
    • "Gun owners are more likely to:
    • kill themselves
    • kill everybody in the room
    • be fat
    • have small penises
    • be compensating for something
    • be stupid
    • be knuckle draggers
    • have extreme anger issues
    • be Rambo

    Tolerance. Pass it on.
