    dirty devil river slots

    Hi guys,
I'm planing a float trip down the dirty devil river. I'm looking for suggestions on which technical slot canyons have access from the river. I will have my backpacking gear with me, but don't want to get more than 4 hours from the river.

I have no canyoneering experience. But I have been a rock, ice, bigwall climber for 15 years. So I know my way around ropes, and climbing. And I'm 5'11 and 200 pounds.

I've been doing my research on it, but curious what the guys who really know the area would do.

These slots are all easily acessiable from the river. All of these slots fit into the 3 to 5 hour time range.

Chambers (might be too extreme for your first slot)

    hi toshkya,

there are some shorter slots with maps in the minislot guide under the dirty devil river link. for example, angel slot and angel cove canyons are nice slots with good access from the river.

Thanks iceaxe, I'll look into those. I'm also looking at no mans and Larry canyons.do you know the distance to the head of either of these canyons?

Happy canyon is definitely on the list. I did this trip last year. But the day I was supposed to go by happy, I got caught in a wind storm, when I had my head down my map blew away. Sadly I couldn't find happy. As it was a must hit last time, its at the top of the priority list this time.

A long way and way more than the four hours you specify.

Also, it is doubtful that the Dirty Devil will have enough water to run this year. Things could change, but right now it looks doubtful.
Utah is a very special and unique place. There is no where else like it on earth. Please take care of it and keep the remaining wild areas in pristine condition. The world will be a better place if you do.
