The "nicer" Navy joins Oprah as a united Force For Good
Not too many years ago I asked a Navy recruiter I know to give me a couple of copies of this recruiting poster. I have always liked that one; with the then current recruiting slogan of "Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of all who threaten it".
At the time he told me that he was not only out of them, but that the recruiting PR people generating these had decided that we needed to be nicer and more group hug so the new posters all had "A Global Force For Good". A true statement, but I liked the pursue bad guys theme. Well, the group hug thing has worked so well that Oprah has stolen our moniker. I was just down in Utah and saw the below Oprah billboard off of I-15 in the North Salt Lake area. I am showing it side by side with a Navy Billboard. So now we match Oprah.
I hope we don't incorporate her book club into the Chief of Naval Operation's new reading list.
