U-Turn
On November 30th, 2012, Steph and I took a lap around U-Turn in Arches National Park. Next to Lomatium and Granary, this is my favorite technical route in the Moab area. The route is very easy, maybe the easiest we have ever done, but the view is fantastic and the balanced rock after the 3rd rappel is cartoonishly good.
This route is a treat. It's what Keyhole is to Zion. Go do it.
Bob
Quite the view from up top. Waayyy in the background is Balanced Rock.

On the last rap? We didn't see any bolts, but didn't really look.
We cut out about 25 feet of webbing on that big rock before we built our anchor. We also cut our about 20 more feet on another anchor, and this was just days after Shane cleaned the route up. There should be a big sign at the trailhead that reads: "FREE WEBBING AHEAD!"

It's worth doing U-Turn just to replenish your supply of webbing and quick-links. I bet in the last three years I have removed at least 300' of webbing from that route. It's the ultimate noob route and noobs have a habit of "when in doubt add more webbing and tie more knots".

Awesome Bob, thanks for sharing. I haven't been out to a canyon for a month now, so I'm getting rusty...;-)
Great to experience it online...
