    Best canyon in Utah

If you only could do 1 canyon in Utah next year what would it be? ( I would like an idea of amazing canyons to do before my LDS mission )

    Best canyon in Utah

Depends on your experience level. And time of year. If the water is reasonably low, Kolob or boundry are two good ones.

Skill level Alcatraz canyon but I'm willing to do easy potholes and multiday canyons any time of the year

Actually, I think Kaleidoscope aka Choprock would be high on the list, as the quintessential Utah Canyon.

I'm also a fan of Canyons with long narrow sections. note: I have a 70 M climbing rope ( that im willing to use for canyoneering ) a 200 ft static rope and a 150 ft pull cord

Ding and dang, little wild horse, baptist draw lower, Alcatraz, little blue John, dragonfly, blarney IDK which fork, monkey business, big mouth waterfall, secret falls, I also do some rock climbing and bouldering

Imlay and South Fork Choprock are certainly up there. I haven't done Heaps yet though, but it's #1 on my to do list.
Utah is a very special and unique place. There is no where else like it on earth. Please take care of it and keep the remaining wild areas in pristine condition. The world will be a better place if you do.

Thus, the question is, what is the VERY BESTEST canyon to do, within your competence range.

I'm thinking Shenanigans would be a good choice.

C'mon down to Freezefest, we'll show you a good time.

My favorite canyon is usually whatever one I did last because it is the freshest in my mind and emotions.

If < 180 lbs, yes I agree. Shenany doen't really compare to anything else, IMHO.

If > 180 lbs, go check out Middle Leprechaun. It has some of the best long, narrow stuff around.

You won't feel cheated if you choose Middle Lep over Shenany, guaranteed.

    Ditto that.

I have never done Neon Canyon, and that is high on my wish list for next year. Expecting that it might rank high up the liost after doing it. I've been doing several in the Moab area lately; some of those have become favorites. Want to get back to the Zion area next year, as the whole entire Zion area is one of my favorites.

But my all time favorite canyon has to be Mystery in Zion. It was one of my first ever, and has so many good memories attached to it.

DO Shenany! No question, you will love it unless you are 4 feet tall.

@RAM informed me that Freezefest will be from "Dec 26th - Jan 3rd or so" this year.

Also... as I get older "who" I do a canyon with is a lot more important to me than "what" canyon I do.

Agree. (I meant to qualify it that way.)

Link up your Shennany trip report, Bob. It is really good - a classic!

(uh, I guess I could do that:
