    14er

    Hello All,

I am looking at doing a Colorado trip this summer with my 16 year old son. Looking for a 4 or 5 day backpacking trip with maybe some fishing and with a 14er to climb. Been looking at maybe the Holy Cross Wilderness Area.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    4sons

Most 14ers aren't 4-5 day backpacks. In fact most are just day climbs.

You could try the Four Pass Loop and climb one of the 14ers there (Snowmass, Maroon Bells, and Pyramid), but they are class 3 and class 4 climbs. There are fishing lakes there.

You could also try the Chicago Basin and Windom, Sunlight and Eolus, and easily spend that long (or longer) there or on a loop hike, but I don't know if there is much fishing there.

It would be hard to stretch most of the others into 4-5 day backpacks. Besides the above, 2-3 days is about the maximum on the routes I can think of.
Utah is a very special and unique place. There is no where else like it on earth. Please take care of it and keep the remaining wild areas in pristine condition. The world will be a better place if you do.
