GoPro 360 Swivel Helmet Mount
Here's another project I've been wanting to tackle, and i wish I'd have done it earlier in the riding season but it can be used for snowboarding as well....
It's very inexpensive to build. I'm not sure how will this would mount to the vented mountain bike helmet so i choose an old dome helmet for a more flat surface.
Materials used are, castor wheel (swiveling!) from your local hardware store, stick of 3/4" PVC pipe (I think 5'), 4 nuts and bolts.
You should also have a GoPro seat post mount, and the LCD BacPac helps too if you have a generation 1 or 2 GoPro
The material list is pretty basic:
Remove the wheel. Keep the nut and bolt to mount the PVC pipe to the bracket.
I also had to cut these bolts down so the pipe could swivel around freely without snagging them.
Temporarily mount the GoPro on the pipe to get a general idea where the fulcrum should be on the pipe.
Just a short video sample. I would advise keeping the pipe and mount out of the frame completely. You don't want to draw attention to the mount, but to the subject of the video.
There is definitely some work to be done still. I needed to weight the back of the pipe down with a hammer just to keep the helmet from sliding down my face. I also may either look into mounting it to copper pipe as it's lighter weight, stronger (won't bounce as much), but much more expensive than PVC. Even when I strapped the helmet on tight, the weight of the device would move the helmet around on my head. I'll either need a lighter weight device and/or a more full helmet to fit snugly on my head without sliding around so much. And, an ideal weight in the back to offset the long length in front. I do want to keep the camera end slightly heavier though, because tilting my head will control where the camera will swing.

Very cool
Two wheels are better than four, keep the rubber side down.
