Tacoma Said - If Scott he asks you to go on a hike, ask careful questions like "Is it going to be on a trail?" "What are the chances it will kill me?" etc. Maybe "Will there be sack-biting ants along the way?"

    Long early winter?
    Why do you say that?

Predictions (unfortunately) are for the opposite.

Also, even the SLC airport averages 1.4" of snow in October (and 0.1" in September):

The benches get a little more:

We got snow too (and it's 11F outside), but during a drought it's best to take any precip you can. People have been praying for this.

Unfortuantely, years with early snowstorms are followed by dry winters. Hopefully it won't happen this next winter.
Utah is a very special and unique place. There is no where else like it on earth. Please take care of it and keep the remaining wild areas in pristine condition. The world will be a better place if you do.

I better not be seeing any bitching about snow. DON'T YOU KNOW WE'RE IN A DROUGHT, AND NEED EVERY SINGLE DROP OF PRECIP WE CAN GET?!?! ME AND ALL THE MORMONS HAVE BEEN PRAYING EARNESTLY FOR THIS SNOW.
It's only "science" if it supports the narrative.

God I hope not. I still have 4 exteriors to paint (at about a week each) before the real cold shuts it down. I'm hoping for an Indian summer that lasts nearly to turkey day. I agree, unless you live in the mountains, winter sucks.
