Jump from Space [Video]
Who watched this? I spent a few hours watching it live with my ten year old. There were some tense moments, but he made it! I thought for a bit that the heater in his suit stopped working because his face shield was fogging up. It turn out to be the heater in his helmet itself I believe. Anyway, this guys is nutz.
What he said before he jumped:
"I wish you could see what I can see. Sometimes you have to be up really high to see how small you are.I'm going home now."

Without a doubt, Felix has nuts the size of ostrich eggs. I have multiple freefall jumps under my belt (at 15000'), and I was really nervous for him when he was ready to (and standing at the door) jump. His delay in responding was clearly nervousness, and I didn't blame him a bit.. Both my boys (ages 14 & 17) consider him a new modern hero, primarily due to his courage.

Jump from Space [Video]
The highest jump I have done was from a bungee tower. I paid for an hour of unlimited jumps. Every time I got back up there it didn't get any easier. I can't imagine what he went through.

How much adrenaline do you need to have to jump from space? This guy is awesome, but he has a problem :)

I am looking forward to the release of video from his spacesuit. As I understand it, he had 5 HD cameras mounted on his suit.

I didn't get to watch it live. But knowing he made it safely didn't stop my heart from racing watching him fall out of control for almost a 1m30s. That was intense.

Awesome. So I couldn't tell, did he break the sound barrier? Doesn't sound like it or that would be in the headlines, but.... I'm too lazy to read into it.

Jump from Space [Video]
I read this earlier (preliminary results)
Baumgartner's body pierced the atmosphere at 833.9 miles per hour (1,342.8 kph), according to preliminary numbers released by Brian Utley, the certification official for the Federation Aeronautic International, at a press conference afterward.
Baumgartner's speed clinched one of his goals: to become the first skydiver to break the sound barrier, typically measured at more than 690 mph (1,110 kph). And he did so on the 65th anniversary of legendary American pilot Chuck Yeager's flight shattering the sound barrier on Oct. 14, 1947.
Utley said preliminary figures indicate Baumgartner broke a total of three established world records, including the highest altitude skydive (128,100 feet or 39,045 metres), longest freefall without a parachute (119,846 feet or 36,529 metres) and fastest fall achieved during a skydive (reaching 833.9 mph or 1,342 kph).

OK cool. I wonder what that felt like, the boom, if it had any sensation at all?

He talks about the uncontrolled spin... I love his accent.
During the first part of Baumgartner's free fall, anxious onlookers at the command center held their breath as he appeared to spin uncontrollably."When I was spinning first 10, 20 seconds, I never thought I was going to lose my life but I was disappointed because I'm going to lose my record. I put seven years of my life into this," he said.
He added: "In that situation, when you spin around, it's like hell and you don't know if you can get out of that spin or not. Of course, it was terrifying. I was fighting all the way down because I knew that there must be a moment where I can handle it."Chere'
