Imlay final rap length
We are doing imlay tomorrow morning from what I can find is the final rap length to be from 110' to 140'. Because less is more I would rather take our 120' rather than 200'. I'm sure some will say its not worth the risk but it also isn't worth the weight if it isn't necessary. Thanks in advance

Used my (supposed) 120' for this drop last year, but hopefully more reputable sources will chime in with more accurate data.
Edit: rope measured in at 115'

Ahh, I normally wouldn't post on a topic that requires accuracy for safety reasons, but my subconcious was telling me strongly that 120' is OK. Hank, your post jogged out some key memories:
- it was the owner of the website you link to that told us (verbally) that 120' works. I think he said his original measurements were conservative (which is obviously how you want to err). Help, @ratagonia - what length are you putting in the second edition?
- I think you were supposed to be rapping on that 120' too... but didn't end up going
- I see bluugnome lists it at 110', and he was there that day...
I should probably re-measure that 120' to be certain...

I'm thinking it is 115'. Would call it 120'
Elsewhere in the canyon, the sneak, there is only one rappel longer than 60 feet, which is the two-stage rappel going to the bivy alcove. The problem there is that in order to PULL it, you need to be back from the bottom of the rap, so you will need another 10-15 feet. All others are less than 60 feet, though the second to last one might be close.

For safety reasons is the purpose of the post. Thanks Tom for the verification. We were pretty sure we would be ok with not having to pack the 200' through. The 120' will have a pull cord and we are also taking a 60' w/cord and 80' w/cord to make sure we move fast since the days are starting to get shorter. With all the rain it should be full and cold. My brother called me from Cedar Mountain and he says there is 6-8" of snow from last night. Planning on starting at 430.

My estimate is 112' after today. We had a fairly new 120' and had about 8' to spare.
