    Neon and Davis

We're looking at doing Neon and Davis late next week. Anyone been in there recently? How do water levels look? I saw the KPH in Neon was full at the beginning of Sept, but don't know if it's dried up or been raining still up that way. Any info is greatly appreciated!

Reports are Neon still quite full, with long cold swims. The Last Keeper still plenty of water. The second to last keeper was down to only one foot over last week, so it might start needing a beached-whale move soon.

Went through Neon last weekend, and it was still full of water. It appeared that the Escalante area got some rain last week. The keepers were full. We didn't have to do any escapes.

Davis is a real thrasher on the deck in the lower canyon, try hard to stay out of the middle and work the walls edge trails (mostly left, LDC), lots worse than the dreaded but uneventful hike out once you head up. Not hard, but tighter than expected early on, a bit scrapey, kind of north washish, good cover or pads will be rewarded. At 50 miles down the HITRR, probably a one timer. As long as you're almost there, plan on hitting and hiking the Hole; a fun scramble, but further down than I remembered it, though it had been 50 + years. No less hard to believe the original trekkers, with wagons, familys, and livestock. Serious dudes.

Thanks for the info, guys. We didn't end up doing Davis (hit E2 and Calf Creek instead), but went thru Neon yesterday and it was fantastic! Lots of swimming and the potholes were totally full. Nice to meet you in person on the way out, Tom.

We are heading to Neon this weekend, no new info since the 6th on Candition...

Has anybody been through in the past few days? How are the potholes looking?

Thanks in advance for your help,

    Bob
