    Jacks Canyon - Service Project

The Jacks Canyon Fire Clean-up (Nov. 2-4, 2012) Winslow, AZ

    Dear Bogley Community,
This past June a lightning caused fire raged through one of Arizona's most well known climbing areas **Jacks Canyon** (in Winslow, AZ) leaving extreme damage to the vegetation and limiting access to popular climbing areas that have been enjoyed for nearly 20 years.

The Arizona Mountaineering Club is coordinating clean-up efforts for November 2-4, 2012 with guidance and supervision from the U.S. Forest Service. Many organizations and businesses are coming together to help sponsor and support this clean-up effort. The Arizona Mountaineering Club, The Arizona Hiking Shack, The Flagstaff Climbing Center and the American Alpine Club have all made plans to roll up their sleeves and work to restore this area, prepare it for the Spring rains, new life and future climbing.

We are asking that you consider supporting the clean-up of Jacks Canyon Fire damage by posting and sharing the attached flyer, spreading the word, and joining us for the weekend.

If you are able to offer any sponsorship for the event we would love to add your group's logo to the flyer & volunteer t-shirts.

Our primary request is manpower. Sign up information is available at facebook.com/jackscanyon . We could also use help in other ways. We would like to get masks for all the workers to reduce the ash intake, plan to give out t-shirts to volunteers with all the sponsor logos included. We hope to put on a dinner for the volunteers, provide breakfast and coffee. We know we will need grills, a couple of shade ramadas, along with water. (both for drinking and cleaning) We might bring in some extra port-a-potties and need heavy duty gloves. We hope to squeeze in a block of climbing time and will need support with that. We plan to set up a Paypal donation place online for folks that just want to give money and hope to have that option available shortly.

When it's all said and done if there are any remaining funds we would like to get a large sign installed --much like a trailhead sign. Currently, the USFS is working to get a crew into the canyon to do the chainsaw work and fix creek drainage issues prior to Nov 2.

Additionally, we would like to give away some swag to the volunteers if we can round any freebies up.

How involved can your business bogley be with these efforts?

Thank you for considering to support The Jacks Canyon Fire Clean-up event.
