Crews search for 2nd body after recovering 1 from Lake Powell
PAGE, Ariz. — The body of a woman was pulled out of Lake Powell Wednesday, and officials were looking Thursday for a possible second victim.
Sometime between 3 and 5 p.m. Wednesday, the body of a woman in her early to mid-20s was spotted floating in the water near the dock at Bullfrog Marina. Investigators believed the woman was of Turkish descent, said Kane County Sheriff's Sgt. Alan Alldredge.
"At this point, no foul play is expected," he said.
Kane County Sheriff's deputies and a dive team from the U.S. National Park Service were searching the lake Thursday for a possible second body — a woman, from Turkey, about the same age.
"Somehow (witnesses) had information there should have been another young lady with (the victim)," Alldredge said.
The Utah Department of Public Safety briefly assisted in the search for a second person Wednesday with its helicopter but did not find anyone.
The name of the woman pulled from the water was not immediately released Thursday, and neither were other details surrounding her death.
Additional information will be posted as it becomes available.
