    Birch

Did Birch last weekend with the Z-crew and Kodys group. Had a blast! Perfect weather, wasn't too hot, started raining about the time we hit Englestead junction, kept us cool the whole way down. Birch wasn't the best conditions, not flowing and lots of sticky silty mud everywhere. We did our best to keep the ropes out of it. Made decent time too. After Birch, Z-crew went down Orderville and Kody's group went up. Special thanks to them for driving our shuttle car down to the bottom. That's my least favorite part, the car retrieval at the end of the day. So was nice to avoid that! Plus as an added bonus, I always get kinda bummed out at the bottom of Narrows, seeing the throngs of unwashed masses trudging upwards asking me 100x "how far does this go? Are we at the end yet?" but the rain (and huge flash flood sign at the trailhead) kept everyone out and we had the narrows pretty much all to ourselves. Another very nice bonus!

Perfect day, perfect friends, perfect scenery, who could ask for a better life.

So with the video I've been trying to incorporate more footage but just have it run in speedy 10x mode. I got this trick from watching Jmans vids which I really enjoy. I think I might have overdid it a bit though. Crits of course welcome. Plus it was raining so hard alot of my GoPro footage came out blurry, ah well. I need to find a way to get the drops to roll off the lens better I think. Will try coating with some type of Rain-X product and see if that helps. Enjoy!

I love the self shots on the hiking pole, especially the water jumps.

I recently got a GoPro for my bday and I'm trying to find better ways of filming with it. I'm, going to try the pole deal. What do you use for editing the film?

Jeff, our video editing buddy uses iMovie.

Thanks man! I use a program called Powerdirector. It works fine, only reason I chose it was it was the highest rated torrent. I figure hackers know what the best program is.

DC, I'm glad u see the wisdom of the fast forward. It takes practice of getting the GoPro mounted just right, however the reward is great. Besides, who wants to watch someone rappel a 60ft rap for 2 whole minutes. Especially when that is repeated 2 or 3 more times per person per rap.

Btw - I'm glad you enjoy our videos, thanks! Good luck with your vids.

Yeah took me a bit to find a stable mounting spot so the camera wouldn't move. If only my program went faster than 10x speed, some of our noobs rap pretty slow, haha.

But yes I really really enjoy your guy's vids, really fun to watch! I am learning slowly how to emulate your style.

Sorry, I tried to go faster. Not all of us are experts.
