    Mt Torment 7/5-6/12

These series of trip reports and pictures are dedicated to Jenny West, who
wanted to be with us in these favourite of places for her. The constant
speculation...Jenny would have love this. Jenny would have loved that. ....Next
    year!

Ziff joined Aaron and I on the 5th and 6th of July for an attempt of the Torment
Forbidden Traverse. It had been a cold and snowy June and the conditions were
dangerous. Tons of snow, followed by very hot temperatures. See the snowfield in
picture 39? We were going to pass under it on the traverse in 10 minutes or so.
The snowfield crashed right on our route. This took all the starch out of us, as
other snowfields were above us too. Tons of snow came crashing down. We
retreated. Another group did the route the next day. Us? We went onto knife edge
ridges where it was safer, all the time hearing the sound of snow and rock
    crashing down and all around.
