Funeral (Viewing) - N'awlins style!
I do believe this is a first though - at least for me. The late great Lionel Batiste from the Treme Brass Band.

I assume the "late" is the guy propped against the pole? Spectacular!

Quite frankly, I'd love my friends to prop me up like that, all decked out in my backpacking gear right on the edge of the Palisades of the Desert. After the big party, they can toss me over the cliff. Let the crows and critters have what's left of me.

I saw something not too long ago where a man who was a huge Steelers fan had passed away. His funeral request included him (instead of being in a coffin) being placed in his favorite recliner, dressed in his Steelers fan gear amd surrounded with Steelers memorabilia along with a television playing re-runs of games. There was beer and snacks for the visitors.
Just an fyi though - Jazz funerals are very popular here in New Orleans. People choose to celebrate the deceased's life rather than mourn him/her. But it is the first time I've seen someone propped up against a street light.

I am all for celebrating the deceased but stuffing them and tacking them to a pole or a chair is just creepy. I'd be afraid of Norman jumping out with a butcher knife to protect his taxidermy.
